Going to the movie with wearing kimono

Today I watched the movie with wearing Kimono.
The kimono had a design of kudzu leaves and flowers.
This kimono was given to me by an “Onnagata” actor of a popular theatre.

Japanese kimono is based on the idea of “anticipating the seasons”. I believe that this is a unique way of appreciating the seasons in Japan. It is also the idea of wearing a kimono in a stylish and fashionable way.

Now, the season of kudzu flowers is around September.
If you are conscious of the so-called “season-front” way of dressing, we should wear this kimono in July or August. However, this kimono is a lined kimono with two layers of cloth, and it is too hot to wear in summer.

So I thought about the owner of this kimono.
I was told that the owner is a descendant of an old samurai.
Probably they chose this pattern because they wished for the prosperity of thier family with the strong life force of kudzu.

I thought, this kimono should be worn at any time of the year, it’s a wonderful design.

The film I watched today is a Japanese movie “Drive My Car”.
This movie won the Best Screenplay Award at the 74th Cannes International Film Festival.
Based on a novel by Haruki Murakami
Starring: Hidetoshi Nishijima
Director: Ryusuke Takiguchi

My impression of the film is that it is a story about a red car that goes south, north and west, passing through people’s different ways of looking at the world, and that the way in which life and death, the multifaceted nature of human beings, and the way in which the universal way of life of human beings is highlighted, is both beautiful and cruel. I was so absorbed in the film that I found myself finishing the three hours of screening time.
