A fish from our neighbour

As we live in a fishing town, we sometimes receive fish from our neighbours. She brings a fish by her wild way.

“Are you there?”
I hear the usual voice from outside.
As soon as I hear it, I rush to unlock the door and open it.

Whenever I look horizontally from the lock, my eyes meet the eyes of a fish, hanging vertically from the ground with its mouth open.

When I look up a little, I see our neighbour’s bare hand holding the fish’s tail. I look up and see her hand grasping its tail,
“Here, bring your container.”

Before I can see her face, I go to the kitchen and hurry back to the door with the bowl.
She smiles reassuringly as she is offered the bowl, releases the fish and it slips easily into the bowl.
And our dinner is richer for it.

Thank you, our neighbour.
